Our verdict
The Villa K is the French alternative with character. The building was a brewery in 1906, and since 14 June 2011 it has been a four-star hotel with 41 rooms.
For an early flight, or for Art Basel week when Basel is fully booked, it is one of the best addresses in the region.
Rooms and spa
The rooms were renovated in 2020 and are individually designed. The hotel has a spa with hammam, sauna, hot tub and massages, a gym, a bistro and a wine bar.
Location and journey times
From the nearby Claude Hess stop, bus 604 runs to Basel: according to the timetable you reach Marktplatz in 16 to 18 minutes, and the Messe with tram 1 in about 21 minutes. A free hotel shuttle runs to the EuroAirport.
Our advice
For 17 June 2027, the first public day of Art Basel, Google Hotels showed CHF 303 for a double room here, a fraction of the prices next to the Messe. There is no BaselCard in France, so you pay for the bus yourself.
Check rooms at Hôtel et Spa La Villa K: the link opens the hotel on Booking.com for a weekend about four weeks ahead, change the dates to suit your stay. During the big fairs and Fasnacht, booking early is the safest option.
